한 사람의 인간 다시 말해 개인은 최고의 가치를 가지며
그는 생명권, 자유권 그리고 행복추구권을 갖고 있다고 나는 믿는다
(I believe in the supreme worth of the individual and in his right to life,
liberty and the pursuit of happiness).

모든 권리에는 책임이, 기회엔 의무가,
소유엔 책무가 따른다고 나는 믿는다
(I believe that every right implies a responsibility;
every opportunity, an obligation; every possession, a duty).

법은 인간을 위해 만들어진 것이지
인간이 법을 위해 만들어지지 않았고
그래서 정부는 국민의 종복이지 주인이 아니라고 나는 믿는다
(I believe that the law was made for man and not man for the law;
that government is the servant of the people and not their master).

정신 노동이든 육체 노동이든 노동의 존엄성을 나는 믿는다.
그리고 세상이 모든 사람의 생계를 책임질 필요는 없지만
생계를 꾸릴 기회는 제공해야 된다고 믿는다
(I believe in the dignity of labor, whether with head or hand;
that the world owes no man a living
but that it owes every man an opportunity to make a living).

정부 기업, 개인 모두에게 근검절약은 잘 정돈된 삶에 필수적이며
알뜰함은 건전한 재정구조를 달성하는데 필수 요건이라고 나는 믿는다
(I believe that thrift is essential to well-ordered living and
that economy is a prime requisite of a sound financial structure,
whether in government, business or personal affairs).
6.
사회질서가 지속되기 위해서
진실과 정의가 기본이라고 나는 믿는다
(I believe that truth and justice are fundamental
to an enduring social order).
7.
약속의 신성함을 나는 믿는다.
말은 보증수표나 다름없어야 하고
부나 권력 또는 직책이 아니라
인간성이 최고의 가치가 되어야 한다
(I believe in the sacredness of a promise,
that a man's word should be as good as his bond;
that character — not wealth or power or position — is of supreme worth).
8.
유용한 일을 하는 것은 인간의 보편적 의무이고
정화를 해주는 희생의 불만이 이기심의 찌꺼기를 다 태울 수 있고
인간 영혼의 숭고함을 자유롭게 한다고 나는 믿는다
(I believe that the rendering of useful service is the common duty of mankind
and that only in the purifying fire of sacrifice is the dross of selfishness consumed
and the greatness of the human soul set free).
9.
지혜와 사랑 그 자체인 신(어떤 이름으로 불리든)을 믿으며,
신의 의지와 조화를 이룰 때에만
한 개인의 인생에서 최대한의 충족함, 행복함과 유용함을 얻을 수 있다고
나는 믿는다
(I believe in all-wise-and all-loving God,
named by whatever name, and that the individual’s highest fulfillment,
greatest happiness, and widest usefulness
are to be found in living in harmony with His will).
10.
이 세상에서 가장 위대한 것은 사랑이라고 나는 믿는다.
사랑만이 증오를 이길 수 있고 옳음만이 권력을 이길 수 있고
이길 것이라고 나는 믿는다
(I believe that love is the greatest thing in the world;
that it alone can overcome hate;
that right can and will triumph over might)
